Bombers Eggbutt Ultra Comfy Lock Up

The Eggbutt Ultra Comfy Lock Up is an option for dressage and the very sensitive mouthed horses. 
The shape is such that it follows the contour of the horse’s tongue.  The centre joint has been double locked to ensure that the angle over the tongue remains correct, even when the reins are taken up, but it retains the individual lateral aids. 
The Ultra comfy has a generous curve, to follow the shape of the horse’s mouth.  We have found that the need for softer bits has been growing, as breeding has been producing finer and more sensitive horses.

These bits are normally a special order and therefore not carried as stock items by our supplier.

  The Eggbutt Ultra Comfy Lock up provides the benefits of an Eggbutt cheekpiece. It prevents pinching of the lips and give a slightly more solid feel against the side of the face. It also prevents the bit being pulled through the mouth. The release is slower and also introduces some poll pressure.

In addition, the Lock Up snaffle removes the nut cracker action of the conventional snaffle. This means it will bear less pressure on the horse’s bars. Therefore, the Lock Up is therefore a softer option, than a conventional snaffle, although it still applies tongue and bar pressure when the reins are taken up.
